Greetings Youth Action Network members! We are pleased to present the videos from Ruckus 2007’s Digital Storytellers Youth Video Training Project, an intensive video workshops for Youth of Colour, Aboriginal Youth, Immigrant Youth and all other youth concerned about racism. The aim of the workshop was to explore all aspects of making independent short videos using professional equipment under the guidance of independent filmmakers from Meow Films.
The project trained 15 multiethnic and multiracial youth to use digital video as a way to:
- have fun while discussing their issues and experiences dealing with racism
- challenge negative stereotypes
- promote greater understanding and awareness among youth
This project is an initiative of the Youth Action Network and is part of the “Ruckus! Youth Activism and Anti-Racism Conference” which was held on November 23, 24 2007 at New College, University of Toronto. Ruckus! is funded by the City of Toronto, Access Equity and Human Rights Community Investment Partnerships.
